JOB DESCRIPTION – MEDICAL RECEPTIONIST
Location: The Clinic @ 78
Reports to: Practice Operations Manager
Working hours: 18–24 hours/week, with flexibility for holidays and extra hours as needed

THE ROLE
As the first point of contact, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring every patient and visitor receives a warm, professional welcome. You’ll manage appointments, handle enquiries, maintain a tidy and inviting reception area, and support the smooth day-to-day running of The Clinic @ 78.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Greet and assist patients, customers and visitors in a friendly and professional manner
- Manage enquiries and book appointments by phone, email or in person
- Support new patient registrations and update patient records accurately
- Take payments, issue receipts, and explain charges where applicable
- Maintain a clean and welcoming front-of-house environment
- Serve refreshments and, when required, act as a chaperone
- Open and close the clinic following agreed protocols
- Provide general administrative support as needed
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Essential Skills & Experience
- Excellent communication skills – written, spoken, and on the phone
- Strong IT skills and confidence using Microsoft Office and email
- Friendly, patient-focused approach and strong customer service skills
- Organised, reliable and able to multitask under pressure
- Team player with the ability to also work independently
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience in a healthcare or front-desk environment
- Familiarity with patient booking or registration systems
- Previous involvement in stock checks, audits, or clinical admin
Qualifications
- 5 GCSEs at grade C/4 or above (including English and Maths) – Required
- A-Levels or equivalent – Preferred

Additional Requirements
- Availability to work flexible hours, including holidays and extra hours when needed
