Mr Dudding MD FRCS, is a colorectal surgeon with a specialist interest in pelvic floor disorders. He has been a consultant at University Hospital Southampton NHS foundation trust since 2012. Having trained at University College of London Medical School he completed his higher surgical training in the Wessex region with fellowships at St Mark’s Hospital, London and Aarhus University Hospital, Denmark.
With long-standing experience in the diagnosis and investigation of functional bowel disorders, bowel cancer, pelvic organ prolapse and proctology he can offer patients professional, friendly and comprehensive treatment options for a wide range of conditions. Surgery, when appropriate, is performed using minimally invasive (keyhole) techniques.
Mr Dudding can offer treatment for individuals with conditions related to loss of bowel control, constipation, bowel prolapse, late-effects of cancer surgery and anal disorders. In addition he is a fully accredited endoscopist performing flexible sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy and is the colorectal lead surgeon for the south-east England regional pelvic mesh complication service.
An internationally recognised expert in the use of neuromodulation (sacral nerve stimulation) for bladder and bowel control, Mr Dudding has extensive experience and research publications in this field. He is a member of the European Sacral Neuromodulation Expert Group, the course director for European Continuing Medical Training (ECMT) advanced neuromodulation course and he sits on the executive committee of the Neuromodulation Society of United Kingdom and Ireland (NSUKI).
He is President of the Pelvic Floor Society of Great Britain & Ireland, having previously been the honorary membership secretary and research and development lead.
