Mr James Douglas is a Consultant Urologist at University Hospital Southampton, having qualified from the University of London. His primary interest is in urological oncology, including complex pelvic cancer surgery, RPLND, and open nephrectomy. 

As part of his training, he undertook a specialist fellowship in urological oncology at the Vancouver Prostate Centre & the University of British Columbia. 

Within The Clinic @ 78, he can manage patients with general urological conditions, including erectile dysfunction and male menopause.

We can also offer urodynamics, vasectomies and flexible cystoscopies in-house.

Mr James Douglas introduces himself as one of the urologists at The Clinic @ 78. He deals with anything to do with the urinary system, including benign non-cancerous conditions, kidney stones, urinary symptoms, cancer and problems with fertility.

What causes benign prostatic hyperplasia?

Mr James Douglas explains that nothing specific causes benign prostatic hyperplasia. It is the normal ageing process for a man, and the prostate in all men will grow as they get older. For a significant number of men, this can cause problems with their low urinary tract symptoms.

What is a vasectomy?

Mr James Douglas defines a vasectomy as a procedure that causes permanent infertility. The tube between the testicles and the prostate is disconnected via a little skin incision, which stops sperm travelling up, and produces infertility.
